The dedication and commitment of the Abbeywell Team has been continuously recognised with many awards and nominations such as Best UK Vet Practice, Best Small Animal Practice in Kent, Gold Award for Feline Care, Best Customer Service & Experience, to name but a few!
Our team of veterinary surgeons have over 40 years experience between and have achieved numerous postgraduate qualifications. They work seamlessly with some of the country's leading specialists that visit our clinic to provide the very best diagnostic and surgical procedures in veterinary medicine, so you can always rest assured that you're in the safest hands and receiving the very best care.
Veterinary NurseEmma joined Abbeywell Vets in 2013. She has always loved animals and is particularly fascinated by cats. Her two cats provide her with lots of useful insights into feline behaviour and peculiarities.
Veterinary SurgeonWith Abbeywell Vets since 2018, Graham has achieved a great deal of expertise during his long career as a vet. Growing up just down the road and being involved with dog shows and horse riding, he discovered at a young age that he had a passion for animals and wanted to be a vet. He has a house full of kids, dogs and cats that keep him busy when he's not dancing the tango or riding his tandem bike.
Nursing AssistantHaving previously worked in kennels, Michael joined Abbeywell Vets in 2012 with a keen desire to progress. A self-confessed dog person, Michael shares his home with a Belgian Shepherd. But would-be burglars beware – his pet is a working security dog, trained to bite on command!
Head ReceptionistCarol has been with Abbeywell Vets since 2012. Originally a veterinary nurse, Carol now prefers working on the frontline where she can meet and help people directly. At home she's kept company by her British Shorthair Cat.
ReceptionistWith Abbeywell Vets since 2012, Annie used to work with horses and birds of prey, lecturing about them and travelling the world (with the birds!). She likes things tidy and orderly, which is great for our reception area, but less so for the messier members of staff.
Head Veterinary NurseMaz has worked at Abbeywell Vets since we first opened. She's our resident feline expert and cat advocate. Maz is currently undertaking further studies in cat behaviour, but has yet to find out why cats always want to be on the other side of closed doors. She has two cats, a dog and a corn snake at home.
ReceptionistJenny jumped at the chance to become our receptionist, having always had a tremendous love of animals. She's got two cats at home and a dog called Daisy, who's lucky enough to holiday with Jenny in the South of France every year.
Mike DVM MRCVS
Principle Veterinary SurgeonHaving grown up with a big menagerie of animals (including a donkey), becoming a vet was Mike's natural choice. He qualified in Greece, moving to the UK to work in 2001, before opening his own practice at Abbeywell Vets in 2009. Both of his cats are rescues — vets are renowned for taking their work home with them and Mike's no exception!
Practice ManagerHaving run his own business for many years building props and sets for TV and film, Dan is the perfect manager of a busy veterinary surgery. Dan moved to Folkestone in 2004 and, having worked his powers of persuasion for a mere five years, opened Abbeywell Vets with Mike in 2009.
Veterinary NurseGemma knew from a young age that she wanted to be a veterinary nurse and went straight into the profession from school. She earned her RVN status in 2005 and has been working at Abbeywell since 2012. Gemma has a strong interest in radiography and surgical nursing, taking extra training in both areas. She's got a Border Terrier at home called Woody, who often vists the surgery for treats.
Veterinary SurgeonWhen Thanos was much younger he wanted to be a doctor until he started spending time with animals, he then decided that being a vet was most definitely for him. After finishing university he spent some time in the Greek army before making the decision to move to England. He joined our team in 2018 and he now has a real affection for Folkestone and enjoys nothing more than taking long walks and enjoying a bit of gaming.
Veterinary NurseWhen Rhoni was growing up she couldn't wait for the weekend so she could to go and help at her local vets. Needless to say, as soon as she left school she went to college and started her studies in veterinary nursing. She joined our team in 2017 and has many interests especially physiotherapy and rehabilitation. She loves reading and you'll always find her at lunchtime with her nose stuck in a book.
ReceptionistJoining our team in 2016, Maxine is one of our front of house stars. She has a rich working history but decided she wanted to work at a veterinary surgery after listening to the wonderful stories her sister (a vet nurse) used to tell her about saving lives and making animals better. Before having children she loved horse riding but now loves nothing more than taking long walks with her sister and the dogs.
